Description

Our contributors meeting nowadays more likely to happened on irc.indymedia.org it would be helpful to document how to connect there (SASL, no SSL, hidden service, allow SASL over unencrypted connection).

This would go on the meeting page:

https://tails.boum.org/contribute/meetings/

Maybe finding a link to somewhere where this is already described would be enough.

If this still actual, I can write such documentation.

If this still actual,

I think it is: we still use irc.indymedia.org for meetings when OFTC happens to block Tor.

I can write such documentation.

Cool :)

Hi,

I started writing first draft. Please advice - should this be documentation with topic on 'How to connect to IRC room #tails in irc.indymedia.org' from other system/distribution, or how to connect this IRC network from Tails?

You need to keep it as short as need. You can give all the tecnical details to create a new account (server name, port, etc.), then check whether it needs SASL authentication for example. But don't go into the details of how to create an account, etc.

We have a ticket about re-enabling the Indymedia account - if that's the case, do we also need to document it ?

#6065 is blocked by #6232, and this depends on upsteam so we shouldn't wait for them to document how to do without a preconfigured account.
