GitLab CE now has issue boards (e.g. https://0xacab.org/jvoisin/mat2/boards). But they seem quite basic in CE, compared to what EE gives.
There are also multiple external Kanban tools that use GitLab's API to use issues track in GitLab as their data source.

community edition (the fully FOSS version that one can run themselves) vs. the enterprise edition (partly proprietary, various pricing levels, some of the functionality available for free — as in free beer — on the gitlab.com hosted service)
